1-8-2016 Jam Night at Windschief

The blues and jazz nights at Windschief were such a success they invited everyone back for one big jam night.  And it was an
amazing night!  It started with some jazz from Trevor, Suzie and David.

Then Kasimira Vogel and Steev Inglish joined in to transition to the blues.

Steev Inglish

Karlan joined in playing her violin, and everyone jammed together quite nicely.

Karlan and Mason led some more folky songs at the end of the evening.

1-6-2016 Billy Barquedier Waterfall

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning Dr. Yves (the local chiropractor) leads Bikram yoga at Jungle Jeanie's.
Cara's friend, Siobhan, talked her into finally trying it this Wednesday morning.  The setting was beautiful, and the Bikram
yoga was excruciating and rewarding.  Cara will do it again, but she needed time to recover.

After yoga we fixed lunch then headed out with Siobhan and other visiting friends, Terry and Trish, to check out the waterfall
at Billy Barquedier National Park.

Preparing for the hike...

It looks like there are other places to explore here, but we will leave that to another day.

The trailhead is right off the Hummingbird Highway, so it's easy to find.

There was actually a composting toilet on the trail, which was unexpected.

Cara had never heard of "yemery" so she googled it, and it's a type of tree.

The trail was actually very nicely marked and well maintained, and it was only about a 15
minute walk to get to the waterfall.

Creek crossing

Then you walk up the creek to the waterfall.

Terry and Trish

Nope, this isn't the waterfall yet...

Almost there...

Woohoo - waterfall and swimming pool!

Siobhan was the first one in and the last one out.

The water is chilly, so it's best to just get all the way in like Trish here, instead of trying to work your way in like Terry.

Trish, Cara and Siobhan were the only ones to brave the cold, though it truly feels wonderful once you get all the way in.
Anyway, the women had fun practicing synchronized swimming and generally messing around.

Ahhhh, farewell Billy Barquedier Waterfall - until next time!

A fantastic time was had by all, and we took our time making it home, stopping at several
places for drinks along the way.

Terry drove, and his car has a sunroof, which was open.  Cara was enamored with the clouds on the drive home, so she couldn't
help but snap some pics.

In sum, our first Waterfall Wednesday was a great success, and we will have to do more of these trips!

1-2-2016 Jazz Night at Windschief

Our friend, Trevor, actually likes to play Jazz, but he doesn't get much opportunity in Hopkins, Belize.  So, he was happy to
find out that another friend, Suzie (visiting from Canada), is into Jazz and studied piano and vocals in college.  They
practiced a lot, and this night was their first public performance.

Trevor switched between his stand up bass, a melodica (we had to google what it was), and his guitar.

David joined in with drumming on some songs.  We failed to get any video, but we thoroughly enjoyed the music.  Songs
ranged from jazz classics by Thelonious Monk to a jazz take on "A Whiter Shade of Pale" by Procol Harum (a song from the
60s that Cara loves).

12-31-2015 to 1-1-2016 New Years

We started the night with the "glow party" at The Lucky Lobster.

We met up with some friends there and tried to endure the deafening music.  We like the place, but we ended up bailing on
the event because the music was way too loud and making Eric's ears ring.

We headed over to Windschief Bar.

They were playing our kind of music at a reasonable level.

We had a fantastic time at Windschief, as usual.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Our friend, Tanya.

Our friend, Chef Rob.

Not sure who this boy is, but Eric ended up giving him the 2016 glasses, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Bar owner, Oli, in his usual position as DJ.

Later in the afternoon on New Years Day we went to Driftwood Beach Bar & Pizza Shack for their 6 year anniversary.

It was pretty quiet there, but we enjoyed just hanging out.

Happy 6th Birthday Driftwood!!!
