3-22-2017 Big Catamaran Sailing Trip

Our friend Emma had her parents and some friends in town visiting, so she arranged a sailing trip aboard The Cat's Meow and
invited a bunch of other local friends.

We were invited and couldn't pass up the opportunity to get out on the water in this unique boat.

All ready to go!

Almost done with the river section and ready to head to sea.

There was no wind, so we had to motor the whole way, but it was still quiet, smooth and enjoyable.

There were nice places to hang out in the sun or in the shade.

Some took this opportunity to do "Titanic" style photos. Here's Terry holding Guido.

Here's Terry holding Gwen.

Emma couldn't decide if she wanted to hold Terry or kick him off.

So, that started a little wresting match...

...that ended in Emma doing a handstand?! Yup. Huh?

Guido took every opportunity to fish.

Tuff Love was our guide. He did a great job, even diving down 70 feet to retrieve the ring of our friend's mother after it slipped
off her finger!

The sandbar where we ended up hanging out all day.

Ready for snorkeling

This is the first of several pictures taken with the GoPro camera in its waterproof case.

There is some coral in the shallow waters surrounding the "sandbar", and you will see some smaller fish there.

Emma, Pam and Cara at "the sandbar", which is really only a dry sandbar at low tide.

This time it was underwater, but only by a couple of inches.

More fishing for Guido

Guido even swam out with his fishing pole to the other side of the sandbar and tried fishing there.

Emma said that was one great nap.

Headed back to the marina at the end of a beautiful day.

What a great group!

3-20-2017 Movie Night at Windschief

Oli decided to start showing movies on Monday nights. The first movie he chose (by popular demand) - The Blues Brothers!

Everyone was enjoying dinner and a movie.

The drink special that night was the Orange Whip, since that's what John Candy's character famously orders in the movie.
Cara had to try it, and it's not bad at all. Classic movie, good company, great atmosphere - it was a very nice night!

3-18-2017 Two Birthday Parties

The first birthday party of the evening was for Elsa, who works in the kitchen and behind the bar at Windschief Beach Bar.
Elsa is in front here, with her sister and niece.

The owner, Pam, made a nice spread of food for all the guests.

We had to leave early to make it to another birthday party for our friend Guido (sitting down in the white shirt).

Terry looks guilty, like we caught him about ready to take an early piece of the birthday tiramisu that Simonetta made.

3-15-2017 Monthly Mini-golf Tournament

This Wednesday evening was the monthly mini-golf tournament. We went early to practice, and so did our friend Ed, pictured
here taking a swing at Hole #6.

We had time to eat before the tournament started.

We also had time to watch our friends play some foosball.

Then things got going for the tournament.

Kimberly, a tourist visiting with her family, happened upon the tournament this evening and they all played. Kimberly said
she wasn't very good, and we reassured her that there was also a prize (free drink) for last place, so she thought she might have
a chance. Lo and behold, she DID win that last place drink!

Eric's teammates: Johnisha, Ant (Antony), and Kimberly

As it turned out, our friends Will and Leslie came in first and third, and they were ecstatic!  (Eric came in second - woohoo!)

3-14-2017 Music and a Magician at Driftwood

Tuesday is the regular jam night at Driftwood Beach Bar & Pizza Shack, and we usually go there for dinner and music.

This evening there was the added bonus of a tourist who entertained the crowd with "magic" tricks. He was very slick and had the crowd roaring!
