8-16-2018 walked around Broad Ripple

Just Cara and Eric walked around Broad Ripple.  We nearly didn't go, but the forecast looked like there was a break in the rain so we decided to get some exercise. 

We were greeted with a rainbow as we found our free parking spot.  Broad ripple is mostly metered parking....but free if you walk an extra 2 blocks.



I saw this rack and it says James Baroud envasion.  I took the picture to see what it was.  It is a tent on top of your car and the website didn't list the price.....seems odd?

8-14-2018 biked the Indianapolis Grand Loop

This was a fine Tuesday and Mark, Cara and Eric decided to bike what we called the Grand Loop.  That is from Marks house 6 miles to Downtown Indianapolis then 4 miles across town then go up the West side to Broad Ripple and back around.  Anyway this is about a 25 mile loop.

Lots of beautiful sites on the ride.  The day was nice!

8-13-2018 walked around Broad Ripple

I wonder if I should even make Blog posts like this, but this is a travelers log from people that just want to get out and do something.  Broad Ripple is undergoing dramatic change.  We used to live in that area for about 15 years.  There is a lot to do and a lot to see.  We just walk around and look at people and oddities.

They is the canal that goes right through Broad Ripple to downtown.

A new sushi restaurant opened up and they offer half price sushi every day until 2019

All that sushi only cost 9$

8-12-2018 Walked around Downtown Indy

On Sunday there is no parking meter enforcement, so if the weather cooperates a walk around downtown Indianapolis is really interesting.

We parked near the Canal.  The Canal spans for a mile from 10th street south to market street.  The canal dumps into the White River at White River State Park.

This was the first time I have seen mass poke man activity.  The craze was peaking when we were in Belize.  It was a nice day and there were hundreds of poke manners out and about.

The canal is really a great place to walk or bike

The west side of the Indiana State Museum features a mammoth exhibit that people can climb on

it isn't very great, but you have to turn the crank to power a little speel about the mammoths

We walked for miles and miles and took in the views

This is the 0-0 point of Indianapolis.  All addresses in the city reference the distance from this monument in their address.

The monument is dedicated to Hoosiers that fought in war

We sorta circled around so here is the Canal again

This is the Congressional Medal of Honor memorial that commemorates recipients from 15 different conflicts.

The Downtown area is filled with nice bike trails.

We ended the night with some Indian food.  We used a Restaurant.com coupon and got half price!

8-11-2018 met up with Cara's Family

Cara's brother lives in Columbus Indiana and they have a Girl who is in the 6th grade and a Boy that is in the 4th grade.

Unfortunately we failed to take any pictures except one gem.

8-10-2018 biked over to Next Door Restaurant

Zac, Cara, Mark and Eric decided to check out a new restaurant that is owned by Elon Musk's Brother.  He is putting a lot of energy into a new way to do a restaurant with locally sourced ingredients, healthy food options, and it is reasonably priced.  We wanted to check it out.  Here is the website.

The restaurant used to be a grocery store.  When Eric first moved to Indianapolis he lived a block away.

They have a nice happy hour menu everyday

The tables are industrial and very cool.  Much cooler than a picnic table, but really the same

8-9-2018 Bike Trip to the Broad Ripple Carnival

Broad Ripple is a section of Indianapolis for those non Hoosiers that may read this.

We met up with Mark and Annette and headed off to the Broad Ripple Carnival.  It is about 3 miles from Mark's house.  There is a very nice park that borders the White River.
