7-10-2019 Bluegrass Band at Eiteljorg

So every Wed there is music at the Eiteljorg museum at White River State Park.  Usually this is outside, but on this day it was raining and the event was held inside.  They were an entertaining band.

As always we rode our bike there, so that adds a lot to the fun factor.  If people wanted to drive then you would be able to get your parking validated and it would be free.

Cara's mom along with a dozen girl scouts are at the airport for 10 days in Switzerland.

The acoustics are very good inside at the Eiteljorg.

the group was very entertaining

7-7-2019 Fourth of July party in Brown County

For years and years it has been a tradition to camp out and enjoy the Fourth of July Weekend at our friends in Brown County.  Their Grandfather bought that property a long time ago and it had a small house on it.  Nobody lives there so it attracts trouble makers.  Over the winter somebody robbed them and burnt the house down.  So the official party got cancelled and a few people camped out.

We camped out by the lake

These are the steps down to the lake

They are working on rebuilding the house back to the way it was

So far it is just a basement

We got a lot of rain this year.  A beaver or beavers decided to dam up the spillway.  They raised the level of the lake by several feet.  Their dam was mostly mud with lots of sticks

We started by digging 2 channels to drain the lake over the spillway a little bit

It didn't take long to break through

The flow was pretty strong....stronger than it looks in this picture

With the work done, it was time to go back to relaxing

7-5-2019 First Friday

First Friday in Indianapolis is when the artsy places have open houses.   There are a lot of galleries and cheap workshops throughout Indianapolis.  It is really cool to have the opportunity to check these out.  Every first Friday in Indianapolis offers us this opportunity.

The swing dancers are pretty good and always entertaining

She sewed whole thing together.  It looked like very fancy embroidery work.  The picture does not do it justice.

These guys sounded good and had a lot of cool moves too!

There is 8th day distillery making craft cocktails

7-4-2019 Fourth of July at Conner Prairie

Conner Prairie is quasi governmental.  So that means that this event was very patriotic.  That is fitting since it was the Fourth of July.  Conner Prairie is nice because you can bring your own food and drink....so it was like a picnic.

The Symphony played a very patriotic mix of music

This balloon is tethered and is a permanent attraction at Conner Prairie

Everybody rose to salute the military

Everybody was feeling particularly patriotic

We got a flyover

They symphony certainly has a lot of members

The fireworks were timed with the symphony and it was pretty cool

7-3-2019 party at White River Yacht Club

The White River runs right through Indianapolis.  It is dammed up a couple of miles downstream so the White River is a lake right here.  It is a fun group of people and they put on a very fun free event.

They had Barbecue and a band and a lot of friendly people

The band was playing on their excursion boat that is for rent

this is a better view of the crowd enjoying the evening

of course there were some fireworks since it was the fourth of July

7-2-2019 biked to the Slippery Noodle

The Slippery Noodle is in Downtown Indy and is a very long running Blues Bar that has tons of bands.  During the week there is no cover and the band starts at 7ish.  The food is good and reasonably priced.

We biked there and there were three of us on the ride, Eric, Cara and Annette.  We made it home by dark.

Unbelievable that it would cost 262,000 to keep Ann Dancing.  See below....Ann was cool, but that is a lot of money for what she does!\

The ladies were in the mood for a fancy cocktail

sorry the picture is so bad...I think it was Gene Deer

The salad was solid

Philly Cheesesteak...maybe not the healthiest, but was very good

Artichoke and spinach dip
