7-21-2019 Biked Downtown for Live Music

Mark bicycled downtown with us. We first stopped at Centerpoint Brewing Company in the
Circle City Industrial Complex. They have lots of games you can play, so we played some
Splendor while listening to live music.

They have pinball there too, but we didn't play any this time.

 

After we left it started to rain, so we took refuge under the Interstate.

We finally braved the rain and biked down to the Slippery Noodle Inn, where there was a faint rainbow.

We listened to Gordon Bonham and Paul Holdman play some good blues.

Rebekah Meldrum joined in for a few songs.

6-8-2019 Symphony on the Prairie - Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue

Our friend, Annette, got several tickets for the Symphony on the Prairie concert series at Conner Prairie, and she invited us
to go with her and Mark to see a concert. We packed a picnic and camp chairs and found a nice spot on the lawn.

The opening act was the Seratones from Shreveport, Louisiana. The singer had a big voice and great presence - we really
enjoyed their funky rock music.

The headliner was Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Their sound took us right back to our winters in New Orleans.

 

Every member of the band was just tremendous!

It was a packed house, and lots of people were up and dancing.

 

This band really rocked!!!

Trombone Shorty (aka Troy Andrews) seemed to be able to play every instrument, and he was absolutely incredible! We
hope to be able to see him again in New Orleans sometime.

5-27-2019 Annette's Birthday Party

Our friends, Mark and Annette, had a big party at their house for Annette's 50th birthday. (This is not her in the photo, lol -
that is Cara's mother.)

They even hired a band that played Caribbean music - Kenny Kipp's Island Party.

There were a few brief showers, but for the most part it was good weather.

Lots of eating, drinking and dancing - it was a great time!

Several games of bocce ball were played.

Neighbor, Tim, in his race attire - he is a big fan of the Indy 500.

4-11-2019 Live Music at Cafe Mana

Our friend Marcia recently opened a lovely little restaurant in Hopkins called Cafe Mana.

It has several nice places to sit and eat or just have a drink. Plus, it's across from the basketball court, so there is usually
some action to watch there as well.

Marcia is now having different kinds of live music on Thursday evenings. 

Cara missed the first music night of Garifuna drumming. However, this evening, while Eric was playing poker, Cara went
and enjoyed the music from Steve Muscarella.

 

Steve played a really nice mix of old school blues, jazz, soul, and R&B.

There are lots of vegetarian options on the menu, which Cara loves. This time she tried the Beet, Goat Cheese & Walnut
Salad, and it was delicious!!!

Steve is mostly a keyboard player, but he did whip out the guitar for several nice tunes.

 

The pictures don't show it, but there was a decent crowd that turned out for the music and dinner. It was a great evening with
lots of friends!
