6-14-2017 Mom Arrives And We Drive To Orange Walk

We left Hopkins in the morning and arrived at the airport in the early afternoon to pick up Cara's mother, Deedra.

We stopped at a nearby restaurant for lunch.

Manatee Lookout is on the Belize River not far from the airport. Apparently manatee like to come to this area to breed, but
we did not see any this day.

It's a Lebanese restaurant, so Cara was thrilled to eat falafel, and Eric was happy for the baba gannoush, one of his favorites.
The food was good, but it took a super long time to arrive, even by Belizean standards.

We drove north and made it to Orange Walk Town in about an hour. We had never been here before, so we were quite surprised
to find traffic lights - multiple traffic lights! (Even Belmopan, the country's capital, just got their first stop light this year!)

On the way to our hotel we passed Excellent Restaurant right next to OK Restaurant. Hmmm...which would you choose?
We're thinking the name says it all, lol!

Our lodging, Hotel de la Fuente, came recommended by a friend. It has a great location right downtown.

There is construction going on to connect the hotel's two buildings.

There is also construction going on next door as well. The workers waited until about 7 am to get started each day - good
thing we were up early anyway.

We went for dinner at a restaurant that was highly ranked in online reviews, and it was also recommended by a couple of friends.

Nahil Mayab is a beautiful restaurant with good food and reasonable prices.

We loved the 3D mural on the wall by the bar.
