5-27-2015 Dinner at Chef Rob's Gourmet Cafe

There is a restaurant in Hopkins called Chef Rob's Gourmet Cafe.  He offers 4 course dining experiences right on the beach.  It takes about 1.5 hours to eat there.  The restaurant is consistently ranked as one of the best in the Caribbean.

Parrot Cove Lodge is attached to Chef Rob's Gourmet Cafe they operate together as a resort

The meal starts with some bread and pesto (cucumbers and dill sauce for the gluten-free girls)

The appetizer was smoked Jack fish in a tomato reduction

The soup is some of the best around.  This is shrimp bisque flavored with aged rum.

Caribbean spiced Pumpkin soup

Asian style green papaya salad - the salad course is seldom just a regular lettuce salad, and it's always delicious.

All of the fish was caught that morning.  Rob has a relationship with several local fishermen.  They head out early each
morning, catch some fish, then head home to sell it to the restaurants.  This is the pan fried grouper with mango pepper sauce.

Gado Gado is a vegetable dish with peanut sauce.  This is not on the menu and was whipped up special for a Cara who is a
vegetarian.

Desert this day was a mango yogurt Mousse
Everybody is always stuffed and sleepy when they are done at Chef Rob's.  Mark has a tradition of taking every visitor to Chef Rob's on their first night out in Belize.
