10-8-2015 San Ignacio and Xunantunich with Ross and Kathleen

Our last morning in San Ignacio we decided to walk around a little more and check out the market.  We saw the children
walking to school as we headed out.

We checked out the market and bought some fresh fruit for breakfast.

We had to stop in a pharmacy for a couple of things, and we always love the sign they post outside.  Sure hope we never have
need of any poisons!

Next we checked out the visitors center because our guide from yesterday, Pedro, had told us they displayed some of the
Mayan pottery that was found underneath one of the streets in town.

We did find the nice display about the artifacts under Burns Avenue.

We also found the Coconut Man, who had met Ross on the street and told him about the hats
he weaves.  He had told Ross that one of his hats was displayed in the visitors center.  Ross is
modeling the hat here.

This is an odd picture, we know, but the bathrooms inside the visitors center were beautiful.

We ran into the Coconut Man yet again, who was actually making one of his hats, and he successfully sold it to Ross.

Then we headed off to Xunantunich, and to get to that you take this cool hand-cranked ferry across a small river.  Notice Ross
is sporting his newly woven hat!

Everybody noticed this large, lovely grasshopper.

Kathleen and Ross loved Xunantunich just as we had hoped, and we all had a great time.

We had a quick lunch at Ko-Ox-Han-Nah in San Ignacio, where we discovered that they have a delicious iced coffee (actually iced espresso) with ice cream (more like ice milk).  Then we headed back home to Hopkins and arrived just before dark.  We cleaned up and had dinner while listening to live reggae music at Loggerheads Pub.
